KELLIE HARRINGTON CHAMPIONS IRISH DESIGN AS SHE CHATS STEPPING BACK INTO THE RING

When she steps out of the ring and takes off her boxing gear, Kellie Harrington isn't opposed to playing dress-up for an evening.

The double Olympic champion joined host Patrick Kielty in the RTÉ studio on Friday to chat about why retirement just didn't suit her, but her outfit certainly did!

Styled by Laura Mullett, who called it a 'pleasure' to work with her, Kellie sported Irish design, wearing a cool three-piece tailored look by Julie Caulfield.

Kellie wore a fabulous co-ord, comprised of a suit jacket and straight-leg pants, both of which boast a unique metallic jacquard-style print.

Rather than your typical geometric print, the pattern of the co-ords looks abstract, almost like marbled leaves. Très chic!

Kellie paired the suit with a very pale pink waistcoat, which perfectly matched the lapels of the suit jacket.

The young designer teased her followers on Friday evening, telling them: 'Tune into the @latelaterte tonight. You might see a little sparkly something of mine on one of the guests.'

Julie later said: 'Delighted to have the incredible @kelly_harrington14 wear my design on tonight's @latelaterte styled by @lauramullettstylist.'

The last time Kellie appeared on the Late Late Show, she was all chat about hanging up her boxing gloves, but since then, she's made a U-turn retirement decision.

It's only natural then that Patrick was intrigued to know, 'why?'

'I missed the absolute chaos,' Kellie told the Late Late host. 'There has to be a madness in you to do this kind of thing.

Kellie spoke of how much pressure was put on her ahead of Paris 2024, with people 'automatically assuming' she was going to bring home the gold medal.

During the relief in the aftermath of her win, Kellie found herself telling RTÉ, 'Ah, I'm done now!' The professional athlete spent around 15 or 16 months in retirement, lapping up the time off with her wife, Mandy.

'We went on holidays, went to concerts, and [did] normal things that normal people do,' she said. 'It was nice, but I missed the chaos of it all. I missed the madness.'

Though she was delighted to get back in the ring, Mandy wasn't so keen because Kellie isn't the 'easiest' person to live with when she's training.

'I have very high standards, I have the gold standard. I expect the gold standard from everyone around me,' she said. 'I told her it's not gonna be as mad as it was. For the moment, it's not, I'm just taking it day by day.'
