JACK CROWLEY’S FUTURE SET TO BE RESOLVED WITH FINAL CONTRACT DECISION

Jack Crowley’s future is set to be confirmed as the Munster star is said to be closing in on a final decision on his future, according to a new report.

The 25-year-old’s long-term future was thrown into doubt after a bombshell report during the course of the Six Nations.

It had been reported that Leicester Tigers stepped in with a lucrative offer to the number 10, said to be worth over €700,000 a year for the Ireland international.

Crowley‘s current deal with Munster runs out at the end of this season, meaning a final call by the player must be made imminently.

According to the Irish Independent, Crowley is set to ‘turn down’ the big money move to England and stay put in Irish rugby.

Both Munster and the IRFU are reportedly growing in confidence that the Cork native will put pen to paper on a new deal.

Although Crowley is not in line for an IRFU central contract, his new deal is expected to be a provincial one with the union additionally ‘topping up’ his salary.

While a pay rise is expected, the overall salary is still set to be eclipsed by what was offered by English Premiership outfit Leicester.

Sam Prendergast, Crowley’s rival for the Irish number 10 jersey, signed a new deal with Leinster this week but that contract is also not a IRFU central deal.

The Munster star was the main man for Ireland in last year’s Six Nations in the wake of Johnny Sexton’s retirement.

Having started all five matches of the 2024 championship, he then lost his place to Prendergast in November and ended up starting just a single match of the latest Six Nations.

Leicester’s interest in Crowley comes in the wake of South Africa star Handre Pollard’s decision to depart the English top-flight club at the end of the season.

Former Leinster boss Michael Cheika is currently head coach of the Welford Road outfit but will be stepping down from his position come the summer.

The club’s interest may already be moving away from Crowley as RugbyPass reported last week that they have registered their interest in Wales star Gareth Ainscombe.

The 33-year-old is set to leave Gloucester after just one season and it is said he could be offered a one-year deal by the Tigers.
