Ordinarily, the Premier League top four qualify for the Champions League, with title winners Liverpool the only side to book their place so far.

But thanks to the performances of the English clubs in Europe this season, the Premier League will receive a European Performance Spot from UEFA, meaning the top five will qualify.

Additionally, you can also qualify by winning the Champions League or Europa League, and with the latter final being an all-English affair, six Premier League teams will play in the UCL next season.

Tottenham face Manchester United in the final in Bilbao next Wednesday – a battle between 16th and 17th in the Premier League table.

How Premier League clubs qualify for the Europa League

Ordinarily, fifth-place in the Premier League qualifies a club for the Europa League but, thanks to the European Performance Spot, sixth is enough this season.

Qualification is also granted to the winners of the FA Cup with Palace today earning a place in that competition next season for the first time in their history.

One can also qualify by winning the Conference League. This year’s final sees Chelsea take on Spanish side Real Betis on May 28.

How Premier League clubs qualify for the Conference League

In England, the winners of the Carabao Cup qualify for the Conference League. This season that is Newcastle United following their 2-1 final win over Liverpool in March.

The team that finished eighth place in the league can also secure a European spot should Chelsea win the Europa Conference League and finish sixth or seventh.

In all, there could be 10 Premier League sides competing across three European competitions next season.
