BENJAMIN PAVARD REPORTEDLY SET TO DEPART BAYERN MUNICH IN SEARCH OF NEW CHALLENGE

Benjamin Pavard has officially communicated his desire to part ways with Bundesliga champions FC Bayern Munich this summer, as reported by Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg.

The talented defender, whose contract with the club is set to expire in 2024, has made it clear that he will not be renewing his current agreement. This decision comes in the wake of negotiations between Pavard and Bayern, where the club expressed their willingness to extend his contract but not at any cost, as per coverage on Transfer Update - The Show. Interestingly, unlike Lucas Hernandez, who, despite a cruciate ligament injury, can still extend his contract until 2027 but has opted not to do so for now, Pavard finds himself in a different predicament. He has been offered significantly lower wages compared to his teammate, earning an approximate annual salary of €8million before taxes. In an effort to avoid losing Pavard on a free transfer next year, the newly-appointed transfer decision-makers, led by the returnee Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and coach Thomas Tuchel, seem to be compelled to sell him during this summer transfer window. Sky Germany sources suggest that Pavard has attracted interest from various top-tier clubs, with FC Barcelona remaining a contender for his signature. Notably, Pini Zahavi is one of the key advisors assisting Pavard in navigating these negotiations. The primary reason behind Pavard's decision appears to be his desire to challenge himself in another elite league, following his successful seven-year stint in Germany. The talented defender is rumoured to have an array of options, including clubs in Spain and England. Speculation surrounding Pavard's potential departure had emerged earlier in the year, with reports indicating his interest in exploring new opportunities away from the Bavarians. Since joining Bayern from Stuttgart in 2019 for a transfer fee of €35million, the 27-year-old has become an integral part of the team. Pavard has amassed an impressive record of 162 appearances for the German champions, contributing 12 goals and 12 assists along the way.
