Heading into Euro 2024 many English fans were excited to see the Newcastle winger in action for the Three Lions.

After he had an incredible season with the Toon, scoring 11 goals and providing 10 assists in 35 Premier League

Having beat off stiff competition from the likes of Jack Grealish and Marcus Rashford to make it into the 26-man squad, many expected to see Gordon's name on the starting sheet.

However he only managed one appearance throughout the competition as an 89th minute substitute.

Now Gordon has finally revealed his true feelings about his Euro 2024 involvement. The 23-year-old said 'he was 'disappointed' over his lack of playing minutes and was never given an explanation over his lack of involvement in the team by manager Gareth Southgate.

Speaking to ITV Gordan said 'I was disappointed, because I believe in myself so much. I feel unstoppable, especially at that point of the season I had just had.‌

'I felt like no-one could defend me, no-one could deal with me over 90 minutes. I felt like I was ready to and really impress people and help the country win the trophy.‌

'To envision what I envisioned… to what it was, it was disappointing.'

When asked whether or not he looked for answers from Southgate over his lack of playing time or if the manager explained why he wasn't selected more, Gordon said:

'Nothing, really. I didn’t ever really ask. I’m not really that type of guy. I just like to get on with what I’ve got to do.

'‌I believe in myself, so even from the bench I was thinking, ‘If he brings me on, I’m going to be ready, I’m going to change the game.’

'But it didn’t happen.'

Gareth Southgate stepped down from his role as manager following their disappointing Euro 2024 final loss to Spain.

This weekend will see his replacement Lee Carsley take charge of the Three Lions for the first time.

When they come up against his former side the Republic of Ireland in the Nations League.
